FOLLOW THE FLOW

THIS PROJECT IS ABOUT WORKING WITH PATTERNS AND SHAPES IN LARGE SCALE IN A PUBLIC PLACE. COMBINING HISTORY, STORYTELLING, COMPOSITION, COLORS AND PATTERNS, IN ORDER TO ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE WHEN VISITING KOLDINGHUS. PLACING ARTWORK ONTO THE FACADE FOR THE PUBLIC EYE, TO REFLECT THE CONTENT OF THE MUSEUM(ART).

CONTEXT : KOLDINGHUS – AN OLD CASTLE IN KOLDING, DENMARK. THE CASTLE HAS SERVED AS AN ART MUSEUM SINCE 1970 AND CONTRIBUTES WITH CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL VALUE TO KOLDING.

COLOR PALETTE

SKETCHES : BLACK INK ON PAPER, TRANSFERRED AND SEPERATED INTO SHAPES IN PHOTOSHOP. THE SKETCHES ARE INSPIRED BY A HERCULES STATUE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE TOWER AT KOLDINGHUS.

PATTERN : TWO DIFFERENT PATTERNS OF STRIPES, CREATED DIGITALLY. ONE VERTICAL AND ONE HORIZONTAL.

CREATING : COMBINING THE SHAPES WITH THE STRIPES, AIMING TO CREATE COMPOSITIONS WITH MOVEMENT AND COMPLEXITY.

THE FINAL COMPOSITION

VISUALIZATION OF COMPOSITION IN CONTEXT : AIMING TO INVITE VISITORS TO WALK AROUND THE BUILDING – FOLLOWING THE FLOW OF THE PIECE. ARTWORK INSIDE THE CASTLE AND NOW ON THE OUTSIDE TOO. I IMAGINE THE PIECE BEING PROJECTED ONTO THE WALLS, IN ORDER TO KEEP THE BEAUTIFUL NUANCES OF THE OLD BRICKS.

ZOOMING IN : THE COLORS OF THE PIECE MIX WITH THE COLORS OF THE OLD BRICKS.
